Give Your Eyes the Care They Deserve

Eye Disease Management Includes:

  • Comprehensive eye exam

Comprehensive eye exams are critical in catching sight-robbing eye diseases that typically don’t show early symptoms.

  • Diagnostic screening

Certain changes in your eyes can indicate eye conditions. Our optometrists can diagnose the disease and determine the cause of these changes.

  • Treatments and surgeries

We provide a wide range of treatments, including prescription eye drops and other medication. If needed, we'll refer you to the right specialist for eye surgery.

  • After care and follow-up

We provide follow-up exams and after-care treatments to help you manage your symptoms and safeguard your vision.

What Are the 4 Most Common Eye Diseases?

  • Diabetic Retinopathy

If you have diabetes, you should be aware of the risk of diabetic retinopathy. Elevated blood sugar can cause blood vessels in the eye to become inflamed or swell. In the early stages, you may not notice symptoms, but advanced diabetic retinopathy can cause blurred vision or eye inflammation.

    Diabetic retinopathy treatment includes:

    • Prescription medication
    • Laser surgeries
    • Anti-VEGF and steroid injections
    • Vitrectomy
  • Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness and often doesn’t show early symptoms. High pressure inside the eye causes glaucoma, and the purpose of glaucoma management is to reduce intraocular pressure.

    Glaucoma treatments include:

    • Prescription eye drops or medications
    • Laser procedures
    • Filtration surgery
    • Drainage tubes
    • Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)
  • Cataracts

Cataracts are cloudy formations on the eye lens. They can make your vision blurry and distorted. To restore normal vision, an optometrist will recommend cataract surgery, which involves replacing the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens.

  • Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration, or AMD, occurs when the macula or the central part of the retina deteriorates. This results in blurred and distorted vision.

There are two types of AMD: Dry AMD and Wet AMD.

Although there isn’t a treatment for dry AMD, lifestyle changes and specific supplements can help prevent further vision deterioration.

    Wet AMD treatments include:

    • Photodynamic therapy
    • Anti-VEGF injections
    • Laser photocoagulation

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Rouse and his amazing staff! I scheduled an appointment ... here because I had been having issues with my eyes for a couple of weeks. My Vision in my right eye was especially bad. I originally went to a different doctor who told me I had dry eye. However, I had a feeling there was more to it than just dry eye, so I made an appointment with Dr. Rouse to have him give me an exam and see if he thought the previous doctors diagnosis was accurate. Dr. Rouse took such good care of me from start to finish! He really cared about what I was going through and listened to all of my concerns. After completing a very thorough exam he determined that I had a lot more going on then just dry eye. It was serious and he knew I was scared. He told me to trust him and to know that “he’s got me”. I do trust him. I’ve never had a doctor tell me something like that before and it felt so reassuring to know that I was in such great hands and that I was finally going to get the answers I was looking for. He explained everything to me in detail about what was happening with my eyes and then immediately referred me to Sound Retina so I could be seen right away to start treatment. I was so scared and couldn’t stop crying but him and all of his staff were so kind and showed me a tremendous amount of empathy for what I was now faced with. For that, I will always be grateful and as long as Dr. Rouse is practicing, he will always be my eye doctor. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

As a former Dispensing Optician for Dr. Rouse, I was enabled to learn and grow more at this practice... than any other practice I worked for before or since. His passion for knowledge is infectious. His commitment to health and wellness is unparalleled. If you need a true comprehensive eye health exam, this is the ONLY place you should be going. You will NOT be disappointed.

Dr. Rouse is very good and takes his time with you during the eye exam. He has a great personality t... hat makes you feel comfortable. To be honest, if you are on a fixed income, their prices for glasses are too high and you may find you want to take your prescription some place else but this is a good eye Doctor!

Want to highly recommend Dr Craig Rouse, optometric physician in Lacey. Here's why: We had an eye em... ergency-of course, on a Sunday morning. A poke in the eye, resulting in Intense pain. Urgent care visit, confirming that part of the cornea was scraped out, received antibiotic scrip and told to contact ophthalmologist on Monday. Also received list of "eye care resources." After an hour back home, with pain increasing, started calling eye drs on list who provided "off-hours emergency care." Kept getting office closed message with "hit this # for emergency care," we did, and they all all returned to initial office closed, hit this # for emergency" message. Even the "big" local eye dr office. Until we called Rouse Eye Care Center. He answered himself, met us at his office within 20 minutes, examined eye, provided pain treatment, drops to keep eye lubricated, and a stronger antibiotic, and scheduled a Wed am follow up visit. Wow! Pain stopped immediately, used antibiotic and lubrication eye drops, and eye was healed by Wed am visit. Woohoo!
